Hello everyone. I’m also a teacher here at Asahi and I’m also from Australia. From what I have observed so far Japanese people tend to consult doctors regarding minor illness or injury’s far more than most foreigners. For example in Australia if we catch a cold the first thing we do it try to treat it ourselves usually by going to the pharmacy or chemist and buying some over the counter cold and flu medicine. It’s not that going to see the doctor is overly expensive, it’s just that going to the doctor when all we have is a common cold seems like a waist of our own and the doctor’s time, so it’s often more effective and convenient to just go to the chemist and treat the cold yourself. I think the reason why we think that way is because we don’t want to cause anyone any unnecessary trouble over a common cold. Anyway, I just thought that was a little interesting cultural difference I would like to share with everyone. Thanks for reading! P.S. Japan has one of the longest average life expectancy in the world! Maybe I should see a doctor more often . . .

あくまで個人的な感想としながらも、Aaron さんの印象では、日本人はすぐお医者さんにかかる？ オーストラリアでは大抵の場合薬局で薬を買うなどして、　自力で治そうとするようですね。ただ、日本が世界で最も平均寿命が長い国だということを考えると、やはり自分ももっと病院に行ったほうが良いかも？と思っているようです。私メアリーの見解を補足させていただくと、医療費の問題とか色んな背景があるので、これは単に文化・習慣の違いだけでは語れない気がしますが。
